The Tara Dance in Portugal was introduced by Lila Ventura. A Student of Buddhism for more than ten years, Lila traveled throughout India, Sikkim and Nepal before meeting with the Tara Dance in Brazil. Lila’s interest was to bring methods of healing and spirituality back to her country. |

She began facilitating a circle near Lisbon in 2003. She moved to the south of the country living in a spiritual centre, near Monchique where the group invited Trulshik and Tulku Rinpoches to teach each year. She taught a small group and was fortunate enough to receive empowerment from the Lamas and to present the dance to them.
They were very happy with the dance work. |
Lila then began to present the dance in different areas in Portugal including practices integral the Tara experience she had learned from the Lamas. |
She has been translating the dance texts into Portuguese (from Brazilian Portuguese) and has been working with musicians to support the dance. |
 |
In 2006 she gave several intensives. Summer Solstice brought her 27 dancers, 20 Taras and 6 protectors. Now she prepares to return to Brazil and will join the Tara Dance retreat in Brazilia in May. |
 |
When she returns to Portugal she will again offer monthly classes and special events.
