Felicity Oswell is one of Tara Dhatu’s Mentors and has been teaching Tara in her native Australia and in Japan for many years. Last year her group performed Tara in Isa, one of the most sacred shrines in Japan. This year she was scheduled to lead a retreat in Japan but the current tragedy has changed that situation. These are notes from a series of letters she sent our sanga from her home in Sydney, Australia.

Dear Tara Friends,
My heart is breaking seeing this catastrophe unfolding in Japan. My trip is cancelled and I feel powerless and very worried about the nuclear meltdown that is happening. So far my friends and Tara sisters in Japan are OK but another big earthquake and Tsunami is predicted any day now.
Please dance in your circles for Japan, to cool those reactors and send healing and love to Japan. These are the times we have been talking about for years and it is happening now. This is when we really need to come together, to dance and pray, to support each other and to prepare.
Considering the tragedies that have been happening in Christchurch, in Japan, and in Libya now, we wonder, can any of us find a place to breathe safely. We need to view the Earth in its wholeness and beauty and to breathe out compassion in a soft cooling, healing breath. And when we are feeling strong, we can embrace the pain and suffering so very apparent to us now.
Please light a candle for the many who have died and send your love and light to the living. They really need it now. Radiate those 21 qualities of Divine Mother Tara out to all beings. I’m so glad we danced at Ise last April, and for all the wonderful times we have turned the wheel of Tara’s Mandala dance in Japan.
Yasuko is our Tara Dhatu representative in Tokyo, Japan. She came several years ago to our Tara Camp on Kauai.
I just got a phone call from Yasuko. She said the radiation is 20 times beyond what is safe and it is coming over Tokyo now. The supermarkets are empty as everyone has panicked and petrol has run out so there is no way to run away. She is staying inside, that is all anyone can do. She is staying as calm as she can and said she has touched to the stillness of prayer and is prepared for death or whatever comes. Please pray for them.
Yasuko was so touching in her poise and depth of the insight all this has helped her to face, looking deeply into herself. After her heart stopping phone call I confess, I just lost it for a while, but I decided I would go to a yoga class. As I was leaving the house, rain began to softly fall and I could see the beginnings of a rainbow. I felt a wave of relief, I knew that the tide was turning. I went across the road and this huge rainbow grew and lit up the evening sky in the most poignant and rich colors. As I looked on in hope and awe, I saw at the north end of the rainbow, a small white cloud amongst the murky and colorful ones, It was perfectly white and I realized it was in the shape of the snow capped Mount Fuji. The rainbow was leading to it. It filled me with hope and soothed my heart. I felt the link between here and there, between all of us, the bridge of light. I am feeling so much better because of the rainbow. Went for a walk along the beach and got the richest, fattest chocolate mousse I could find. I know it will all be alright, Sakura will bloom (cherry blossoms) and spring will come.
Kulavadhuta Satpurananda is one of Felicity’s main teachers. She often shares Baba’s insights. This letter from him was in response to the three letters above.)
Have prayers for consoling minds and carrying on a Bodhisattva nature but don’t stand against the Wrath of Tara. She knows better what we need. The elements are just reshuffling. We see from our human view point, destruction. It is the time that Existentialists call the silent Words of Existence. Find out where we humans need to stop WHAT WE WANT and look behind our all wants that create these events. This is the time to meditate on Emptiness, to appreciate these HAPPENINGS. Even if you call it the punishment of God/dess then receive it for higher wisdom to grow within.
A Japanese Monk Sent this Prayer Request to Felicity
The damage of earthquake in Japan is devastating.
Unable to cool down the reactor we are facing a possibility of nuclear transplant explosion.
Please join our prayer. Feel free to forward this prayer request to anyone.
It would be great if more people can pray.
Here is a translation of a message/oracle from the Ise Shrine in Japan.
After the sunset we need strong power of prayer.
Please let me deliver the message as many as possible.
We can stop this earthquake with our prayer but right now the nuclear plant is in danger.
Please everyone heal the suffering, sadness, anger, worry about nuclear plants.
Please do not think that this accident well bring justice.
Please care for each other.
The energy toward conflict and fight is also fueling the things happening right now.
Please stop the conflict and stop the fight and change the worrying voice to the power of prayer.
Please pray that as many as people can be saved.
We will be O.K.
If our heart start connecting with each other the earth will be healed.
There are the sound/vibration that can release the karma of earth.
Anyone who can make prayer sound, anyone who can do reiki,
anyone who can do long distance healing
please direct your energy to the center of Japan .
The exact location is above the Hachiro gata, Akita Prefecture .
If you can sing, please sing.
Humming is fine too.
Let the earth listen to the sound.
Please send gratitude to the earth.
If the mother earth wakes up the everything will stop.
The word Song/Sing writes in Japanese Kanji that small possibilities support a big lack.
Please send your prayer to the earth to wake up the spirit.
I will be in meditation after the sunset.
I will pray for the light shining the sky even in the darkness.
Please everyone be safe.
Thank you for supporting my heart at this very difficult time.
Gratitude for the life.
LOVE LETTER TO JAPAN FROM THICH NHAT HANH
Dear friends in Japan,
As we contemplate the great number of people who have died in this
tragedy, we may feel very strongly that we ourselves, in some part or
manner, also have died.
The pain of one part of humankind is the pain of the whole of
humankind. And the human species and the planet Earth are one body.
What happens to one part of the body happens to the whole body.
An event such as this reminds us of the impermanent nature of our
lives. It helps us remember that what’s most important is to love
each other, to be there for each other, and to treasure each moment we
have that we are alive. This is the best that we can do for those who
have died: we can live in such a way that they continue, beautifully,
Here in France and at our practice centers all over the world, our
brothers and sisters will continue to chant for you, sending you the
energy of peace, healing and protection.
Our prayers are with you. —Thich Nhat Hanh
