April 2023 Pilgrimage to Bhutan

                                                  Intro by Priya

I was so very fortunate to be accepted to join the 2nd Tara Mandala Pilgrimage to Druk Zangri Khamar, Bhutan to learn and embody the ancient teachings of the Chöd melodies, the dances and the worship in order to preserve and bring them to the West.

I was so grateful to know that there was at least one person on this pilgrimage that I knew and who was also a Tara Dancer…Karen Greenspan!  Karen and I have really bonded through this experience and she has done an outstanding job of gathering all the information on the dances that we learned so we can continue to practice bi-weekly on zoom.

Karen has written several excellent articles that are mostly dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of women in Buddhism.  At least a couple of the articles mention Prema and her extraordinary contributions to bringing the Tara Dance into the world and to the nuns of Kopan!

I am forever grateful for Prema’s teachings.  Being a Tara Dancer prepared me well for this incredible pilgrimage and especially for learning the Rinchen Trengwa Chöd Cham.

This wonderful article that Karen Greenspan wrote and published in the Buddhist Door online magazine describes the Pilgrimage and the quest to learn and embody these ancient teachings .
