Dancing Tara in Tonasket, Washington

Phyllis Moses will be returning May 31 – June 2 to the powerful and sacred area of Tonasket, Washington. A Level 2 Tara Dhatu student teacher, Phyllis is excited to see how the Stupa being built on the retreat land progresses. On June 29 there will be a community offering of the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara.

Many years ago, Lama Zopa encouraged the Tonasket Sangha to have a Tara Festival featuring the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara, as well as other forms of music and dance. Lama Zopa was quite familiar with the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara since the nuns at his Kopan Monastery have been dancing it for years. He encouraged the Tonasket group to learn the dance and Phyllis was kind enough to tackle the long drive to central northern Washington State, close to the Canadian border, in order to initiate a circle of dancing Taras.

Now they are ready for the next level of training. If you would like to dance with the Tonasket group, go to:
