Deeply meditative and nourishing to the soul, this music was composed and recorded to accompany the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara as transmitted by Prema Dasara. This ritual is offered by groups of dancers worldwide as a prayer of peace, protection, wisdom and capability. It is a practice of empowerment and blessing. Based on an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice of praising and embodying the Great Goddess Tara, the Mother of Compassion and Wisdom.
This version of the 21 Praises of Tara was adapted from a translation by Sarah Harding of a traditional Tibetan sadhana, a gom ter (mind treasure) of Orgyen Dechen Chokjur Lingpa, the great Tibetan treasure finder. Used in Karma Kogyu centers world wide, it was shaped into verse for the purpose of singing and dancing by Jeff Munoz and Prema Dasara (1985) and modified by Anahata Iradah and many sincere Tara dancers.
