TaraDhatu Sangha assists with prayers and donations for those affected by flooding in south Brazil

In my city , Caxias do Sul, we are ok comparing with the neighboring cities that are completely destroyed. Most of people lost everything and are living in camps.

In our school we are  receiving and organizing donations and some  good friends  and  students, that have big cars  and are able to travel , are going directly to deliver to the people in need.

With the donations we have bought food, kitchen utensils, giving support to a group of women that are cooking cookies and sewing coats for children and whatever is more necessary in the everyday .

Your donations have helped many people, so we would like to thank Prema, Myri and all Sangha for your generosity. May Tara bless you and your families!!!

Flooding in the South of Brazil

Dear beloved dancing sangha,

Dani Shiravasti and family.

There is currently some internet contact in her village

and she took the time to talk with Myri. I have transcribed

Thank you all so much for your generous support of

some of that conversation.

Gratitude. Things start to return. The internet, electricity, water.

The children are doing well. There is trauma but they are ok.

My city, Putinga, is very small. It is in a valley.

The Taquari River runs through it.

It is a region where all the mountains meet.

All the houses near the river were washed away by the river.

My house is above the river, all the houses below here were washed away.

But we had no way out.

There is a dam near my house and the engineers think it might break.

They tried to open the sluice to prevent the dam from breaking.

That was a most terrifying moment.

Until then we were in my house but I became terrified

when they came to rescue us with a back hoe.

They were also aware of the danger of the mountains coming

down on us, with landslides.

We were brought to a shelter in town. It was so chaotic .

We got settled and I left my daughter to play with her friends.

The rain stopped and everybody was in the street

trying to clear and recover what they could.

I went to look for food and band aides for my husband who was injured.

There appeared these bad people who were robbing what they could

and saying the dam was broken.

They were making people frightened

and people started running to save their lives.

My husband had the baby, and I ran to get my daughter.

I was so frightened because if the dam broke my husband and baby

were on one side of the street and I with my daughter

were on the other side and the road would become a river

separating us. I ran to get my daughter to cross the road.

That was terrifying.

Up until this point through the blessing of the practice of Tara

I had remained calm for my family.

But In this moment I was really afraid.

My peace was lost and I felt  fear for my children’s life.

The fear took over. (when Dani was telling us this she started crying)

It is so sad to see how we lost so much,

my husband’s family they worked all their life to build this business.

But when I talked with them I told them we didn’t loose anything

because we still have the children. I don’t know what I would do

If I lost one of my children, or the children of my friends….

(more crying) Yesterday I showed my husband the message Myri sent

about Tara Dhatu’s effort to raise $$ support for us.

He cried with me when he knew.

We are so deeply grateful to all the sangha who care about our family.

The $$ is so welcome, we have so many expenses,

the bills keep coming. To know we have this support,

it is wonderful, we are especially grateful for the prayers,

knowing that we are remembered and that there is this help.

It is such a difficult time for us but I send a kiss in your hearts.

I will continue to try to keep positive and radiate good,

even though this moment I can’t maintain the daily practice.

But I work with my mind to keep as positive as I can.

I will do my best to keep the faith and send those feelings

to the people around me that are suffering so much.

I love you all and I am so grateful, thank you for praying for us.

Thank you so much for helping us.

We are collecting funds to send to Dani and family.

Please keep the people impacted by the floods in your prayers.
