Tara Ling Update from Prema

Our water issues started just before everyone arrived for the Monlam. Our neighbor refused to honor our arrangement for drainage requiring our engineer and construction manager to come up with another labor intensive plan. But at least they did come up with one, hopefully to be executed before the big rains.
The first day of the Monlam we were to serve our 50 participants lunch and we discovered the water tank feeding the main house was empty. The Town water company had turned the water in our neighborhood off. We were at the end of the dry season and the locals said they had never seen such high temperatures and drought conditions.
Out of desperation Myri was forced to buy a separate tank and hired a truck to bring water to us. We were able to manage supplying everyone with water during the Monlam.
The construction team devised a plan to build a tower to hold the tank and recommended we drill a well. Myri contacted a local company and they sent out their “water witch”, an older fellow who used two metal sticks, walked around the property, declared us to have a lot of water beneath us and showed Myri where the sticks pulled apart to indicate the best drilling conditions.
The rains have started and we rejoice as things turn green. Our waterfall sprung a backwards spouting leak, now fixed, it is so inspiring to see White Tara at the top of the fall.

I asked Myri to paint Om Ah Hum on the water tank, so that all the water passing through the land would be blessed. She finished it just in time and before they enclose the tank I managed to snap a picture to share with you.

As you can imagine all of this entails unexpected expenses and we are barely managing to keep up. If you would like to make a donation to help support TaraLing as we hopefully bring all construction issues to a close, here’s the link.

Super big thanks to all who have supported us thus far. We look forward to welcoming you here next year. So far our next retreat is scheduled for May. We already have several inquiries for private retreats. May this precious land of TaraLing be a blessing in our lives, our sangha and our world.
