Tara Goes to Bangkok

Mae Chi shares her wisdom with her nuns

Several years ago Prema was invited to go to Bhutan by Kutira Decostard to look into the conditions of nuns in that part of the world. On the way they stopped by in Thailand and met Ven. Mae Chee Sansanee Sthirasuta. Her exquisite center of dharma is in committed service to the people of Bangkok. Prema taught some of the Tara Dance to her community and a real love of Tara was born in the hearts of the sanga there. We just received this email from them……

Our New Year’s Message to our friends is in the form of a youtube and we have some great news to announce…..

Green Tara and the Heart of the Bodhisattva’s Exhibition

We received a 2,000 year old statue of a Green Tara from a generous donor named Hong Chiam. It is from Mongolia.

The people of Thailand are not familiar with the Green Tara and we wish to share knowledge about her.  Thus, on Feb 12th – 23rd there will be an exhibition featuring different aspects of Green Tara by artists and craftspeople from all over the world.

We are sending out a request to all of you who know  Green Tara in your hearts:

* Are there wonderful resources about her that you can direct us to, either people or books?

* Has Green Tara herself changed your life, helped you along the Dhamma path? Please let us know.

Savika-Sikkhalaya Buddhist University

It is Mae Chee’s intention to create a more conscious and humane society by training students in the art of interactive communication and compassionate service.  This program is known as the Savika-Sikkhalaya  Buddhist University. We are still in mid-construction of a 3-story environmentally-friendly building to house the students.

On February 22nd, we are making thirty bronze replicas of our Green Tara to offer to donors, in honor of Ven. Mae Chee Sansanee’s  thirtieth anniversary of ordination.  All the donations will go towards Savika-Sikkhalaya Buddhist University.

12th Sakyadhita International Conference on Buddhist Women

The Ven. Mae Chee Sansanee and the sanga of Sthirasuta Sathira-Dhammasathan will be hosting the 12th Sakyadhita International Conference on Buddhist Women on June 12th-18th.

We are hoping to have one of our Tara Dhatu Student Teachers go to the conference and share with the international Buddhist community. If you are a Student Teacher and you are interested in representing us contact Prema. Or…..if you would like to sponsor one of our Tara Dhatu Teachers with money for airfare, or expenses or airline points, please let Prema know.
